About Us
The Commonwealth Beverage Coalition is a 501(c)(4) organization committed to advocating for responsible regulations in the hemp derived CBD and THC infused beverage industry. The association works closely with the Legislature and other relevant stakeholders to promote a safe, clear, responsible and workable regulatory framework. The CBC's mission is to ensure the sustainable and responsible growth of the industry for the benefit of all participants.
As the hemp-derived CBD and THC infused beverage industry continues to evolve, it faces significant challenges and misconceptions, underscoring the critical need for informed policy-making, legislative activity, and public awareness. We work in alignment with the Hemp Beverage Alliance’s efforts nationally to add focused efforts on the state level in Massachusetts.
Our Goals.
Align the regulation of hemp-derived CBD and THC infused beverage products with those of alcoholic beverages
Ensure a safe, equitable, and thriving market
Per package limit of 5mg or less of THC
An age limit of 21+
Clear labeling requirements
A state excise tax mirroring that of low-ABV RTD spirits drinks
Agency oversight by the same agencies that oversee alcoholic beverages and hemp products
Licensing requirements similar to those for alcoholic beverages
